ABOUT TANNIA
Tannia Taranto is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist who lives in Melbourne, Australia. Tannia has a passion for art and has used it to turn personal encounters into imaginative and inventive artwork. Having worked for several years as a Graphic Artist and Producer in animation and on live-action shoots for the television industry and later in corporate administration. While raising her young family, she later co-founded her family jewellery business, designing and creating bespoke fashion and bridal jewellery sold directly to the public and retail stores throughout Melbourne.
Having previously studied visual arts in secondary college, she reacquainted herself with the discipline by exhibiting early artworks at local charity fundraiser events in 2012. Deciding to immerse herself entirely in the venture, she resigned from her corporate work life to focus on establishing her home studio.
Tannia's artistic journey is a testament to her constant exploration and evolution. Her journey began with a series of portrait and figurative pieces, where she examined the complexities of human diversities and emotional constructs through monochromatic colour palettes and evocative female forms. As her artistry deepened, she ventured into various mediums, including resin, ink, and plaster, the latter a homage to her father's trade profession. This exploration led to the creation of the EVOLUTION series, a collection of abstract plaster relief pieces that examine the organic environment in a sculpted, heavily texturised, and contemporary form.
More recently, these plaster relief works have been reinterpreted into a three-dimensional ceramic series, created through clay hand-building techniques. The EMERGE sculptures depict the movement and strength of the female form, intertwined with flowing sculpted line work and engraving, with particular pieces influenced by the empowering femininity of Beyonce and the reimagined Renaissance haute couture, adding an exciting new dynamic to Tannia's distinctive work.

Tannia Taranto artworks have been sold and exhibited across Australia and internationally, including solo and group exhibitions in Melbourne. She has also been recognized for her entry into the prestigious 2023 Archibald Prize, creative collaborations with CATA (Creative Art Therapy Australia), and membership in Melbourne & Victorian Artists Inc.

Tannia has her family and friends to thank, insisting she pursue her love of art and take it to the next level.
"I have so much to explore, learn and be inspired by and I'm excited to see where this journey takes me…so the best way to predict my future is to create it!"
